Sustainability via Connected Data (SCD) is a solution prototype developed by the BMT team to prove a simple but transformative idea: the sustainability dimension of any product can be activated when its data flows seamlessly across the systems that already run the business.

SCD demonstrates how sustainability intelligence becomes part of the product itself — traveling with it from the moment a customer places an order, through engineering, into ERP, and ultimately into procurement and production.

🌐 What SvCD Does

SCD connects data across E‑Commerce, PLM, and ERP to ensure that sustainability information is not siloed, lost, or manually re‑entered. Instead, it becomes a continuous digital thread that enriches every downstream process.

🔄 How It Works

SCD showcases a real, automated data flow:

• A customer selects a product in an e‑commerce cloud.

• Product and sustainability attributes flow directly into PLM, where engineering intelligence is added.

• The enriched data continues into ERP, automatically generating a sustainable sales order.

• Sustainability requirements become material requirements, enabling ERP to generate:

  • Purchase Orders with sustainable material specifications

  • Production Orders aligned with sustainability constraints

This proves that sustainability is not an “extra step” — it is a data-driven capability embedded into the operational backbone.
